RAIERS

The transformation of the rivers and the river basins of our territory brought about a substantial change in the transport of wood, which stopped falling downstream. This fact led to the disappearance of the timber-raftmen trade in the 30s of the last century. Over the years, the Asociació Cultural de Raiers de la Ribera del Segre (Coll de Nargó) and the Associació Cultural de Raiers de la Noguera Pallaresa (La Pobla de Segur and El Pont de Claverol) have made it possible to revive this trade as a cultural and traditional expression.

The interest of the Asociació Pallaresa to discover places where the trade also existed or commemorated was the result of the constitution of the International Timber-Raftmen Association.
